Nick ringed the doorbell, Ding Dong!
Linds' mother opened the door and greeted Nick, "Hello there," she said "How are you today? Please do come in!"
"No thank you," Nick said, the only reason he didn't come in was because of the fact that he thought if he came in and Lindsay was not ready by that time, he'd be waiting hours for her. "I'll just wait out here for Lindsay because there really isn't that much time to spare for school to start."
"That's true. Let me go and see if Lindsay is ready yet."
"Thanks a lot," Nick said just as Linds' mother was running upstairs to get Linds.
About five minutes later Lindsay came down the stairs. "Bye, Mother" she called while she was grabbing her bag by the door and headed for Nick's car with Nick.
Nick got to the passenger's side of the car where Lindsay usually sits, and before she could even put her hand on the handle, Nick opened the door for her and said, "Get in, my darling." With his hand greeting Linds' like they do at Valley parking places.
Linds started to laugh because she knew that Nick was joking. "Nick, quit the act," she said while getting in the car.
Nick then ran over to the drivers seat and got in the car, "Act? What act?" he asked trying to be funny and Linds had known that he was just playing with her because he had a slick smile on his face.
"Just shut up!" Lindsay said, "You're always playing Mr. Innocence. Wut up with that?" Lindsay wasn't being mean to Nick. She was only playing along with what he was trying to do.
Nick didn't answer to that or to anything else that Linds had said for that matter.
"Hey, Nick. Why aren't you answering me? Are you mad at me? I'm sorry for what said before. Please answer me." Lindsay was starting to get a little impatient.
"Well, I was only following your rules, Linds," Nick said.
"What do you mean? You were following my rules?" she asked.
"Well, you told me to shut up, so I did. You can't blame me for doing doing what you told me to do."
"True.....true.....very true! Since when do you listen to me though?"
"Since you became my girlfriend." Nick answered her.
"Nick, you always know just what to say..... Common, I think we better get going cuz we can't sit in front of my house all day and talk."
"Yeah, I know, but I sure as hell wish we could."
"Me, too, but we need a future so we actually have to go to school," Linds said.
"No, we don't. There's nothing written anywhere that we can't play hookie for a day."
"I dunno about this," Lindsay said.
"Oh, common Linds. I love you and I know you love me. Besides it'll be fun. What do you say?"
"Okay, okay, you're probably right cuz I bet we'll have a great time. Lets do it."
Nick drove out of Linds' driveway. "Where are we going?" she asked.
"Um....it's a surprise. Close your eyes and you'll have to wait until we get there to see."
"Oh, common, Nick! You know I hate to be kept in suspense," Lindsay said, whining.
"Please" Nick begged.
"Fine, but you owe me one."
"Not after you see what today will be like. Now please close your eyes cuz I want you to be surprised."
"Okay," Lindsay said as she put her hands over her eyes.
Most of the drive to where Nick was taking Lindsay, there was either silence or Lindsay askin Nick how long the drive will be and where they were going.
When they finally arrived at the place, Nick told Lindsay to keep her hands on her eyes until they got into the place. When they finally got there and inside the place, Linds opened her eyes and had a shocked expression on her face.
She had recognized that they were in the biggest mall in Florida. Nick had droven Lindsay all the way to the Sawgrass Mills Mall.
"No wonder that drive seemed to take forever," Linds said to Nick. "The drive was forever." she said laughing because it was a few hours from where they lived.
"Maybe for you, but not for me because you were there with me."
"Ah, Nick, you're so sweet."
"I know, I know, you tell me that 24/7!" Nick said jokingly. "Common and lets go shopping. We really don't have that much time because we have to drive back, but we can shop for a good 2 and a half hours."
"Okay, lets go," Linds said as she pulled Nick to where she was running toward a clothing store.
"I should have known that we'd be going to a clothing store first."
"Common," Linds said and pulled him even tighter.
"I'm commin, I'm commin," Nick said and ran upside Lindsay.
They spent two and a half hours, just as Nick had predicted, in the mall. They had gone to many stores. A lot of teenage clothing stores for Linds, a few mens clothing stores for Nick, a few music places and the food court to take a lunch break.
When it was all over Nick said, "Okay, Linds, I think we better go home cuz by the time we get home it'll be pretty late."
"Okay," Linds agreed. "Let's go."
And they left to go home. The drive home was kinda tiring for Lindsay and she slept most of the time, but about a few minutes home, Lindsay woke up.
"Nick, you were right," she said.
"I was right about what?" he asked.
"You were right that we would have a great time and it was fun and that I love you." she said and gave Nick a kiss. Then she rested her head on his shoulder as he was driving.
"Well, I love you, too. I am glad you had such a great time."
When they arrived home it was seven o'clock. They both knew that their families were waiting for them for dinner, so they tried to make their good-bye's as fast as they could, but when Linds was just about to close the door, Nick said "Wait, Linds," and he pulled a box out of his jacket pocket and handed it over to her.
Linds opened it and had a shocked expression on her face. Inside the box was a gold locket and inside the locket was a picture of Linds on one side and Nick on the other.
Linds put it on herself and said to Nick, "I will never take this off." Then, she ran over to Nick's side of the car and gave him a kiss. "I love you so much and I will never stop loving you no matter what."
"I love you, too." Nick said.
